Brighton Resort Announces Not Oktoberfest

Free, six-weekend culinary celebration features cooking competition and family fun

BRIGHTON, Utah – Brighton Resort is serving up something completely different this fall with Not Oktoberfest, a six-weekend celebration of chef showdowns and community fun running September 6 through October 12. The free event transforms every fall weekend into a celebration where Utah's best culinary talent faces off against Brighton's own kitchen crew.

"We wanted to create something uniquely Brighton—authentic to who we are rather than following traditional festival formats," said Jared Winkler, Vice President of Marketing.

The heart of Not Oktoberfest is the inaugural Foodie Wars—chef-versus-chef showdowns featuring Brighton's Executive Chef Jeffrey Sanich.

“Foodie Wars came from the idea that Not Oktoberfest should be more than just music and beer. We wanted to add some friendly competition that highlights food in a big way. It’s fun, it’s engaging, and it gives our guests a chance to taste something different while rooting for their favorite dishes.” said Chef Jeffrey Sanich, Brighton’s Executive Chef.

Each weekend features a different culinary theme, with guests serving as judges who taste, vote, and help crown the winners.

  • Sept 6-7: Best Brisket in Utah featuring Brighton Pitmaster Dan McAllister
  • Sept 13-14: Fried Chicken Sandwich Invitational
  • Sept 20-21: The Banh Mi Brawl
  • Sept 27-28: Best Pie in Utah Challenge
  • Oct 4-5: Mac & Cheese Meltdown
  • Oct 11-12: Utah Ski Resort Chili Cook-Off (calling all Utah resorts!)

Alongside the culinary competitions, free family games run every weekend, from mechanical bull rides and axe throwing to cornhole tournaments and giant foosball. A dedicated Kids Zone offers bounce houses and kid-friendly activities.
