Backcountry 101
Brighton Backcountry 101 Avalanche Awareness Course Brighton Backcountry 101 was developed by the Brighton Patrol, in conjunction with the Utah Avalanche Center. This is a two part course consisting of an evening lecture and a field day practical. Focus is on decision making and using information available from the Utah Avalanche Center forecast. Safe Travel, route selection, snow pack and partner rescue are just a few of the topics. Course is taught by Brighton Patrol, Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center staff and local professional athletes. Course cost is $60.00 and courses take place monthly. Backcountry rescue gear is required, including shovel, beacon and probe
