WeatherFour-story snow. Seriously? On average 41 feet of snow falls in Brighton each year. That is enough snow to cover a four- story building. For all you mathematicians, that’s approximately 500 inches. The lightest snow on earth. Really?Brighton lies in the Wasatch Mountain range, which sits right next to the Great Salt Lake. This simple fact of geography is the answer to so many skier and snowboarders prayers for deep LIGHT powder. You see, storm clouds approaching from the NW pick-up moisture from the massive lake (which can be seen from outer space). Loaded with moisture, these systems hit Brighton and are forced over the mountain ranges losing the ability to hold moisture. Brighton becomes the recipient of the coldest, driest snow in the world. If you must know our snow averages a mere 6% water content…compared to say, Whistler’s 15-20%.
